  21.   There. Now that I have your attention. ;) No, really, this is an
  22. important warning.

  24.   I work for a computer store called _The Computer Room_ in Denver, Colorado.
  25. On July 1, 1993, a customer going under the name of "Tom Nelson" purchased
  26. a full-boat Amiga 4000/040+Toaster4000 system. The cashier's check which was
  27. presented turned out to be bogus. Mr. Nelson has disappeared from sight.

  29.   I ask your help, fellow netters and Toasteroids. If you see any sign of
  30. this system for sale used somewhere, please contact us at The Computer
  31. Room. We're a small company (7 people) trying to stay alive and make a living
  32. in _spite_ of Commodore ;) and getting stiffed on this much gear hurts
  33. _personally_.

  40.   The cashier's check was apparently drawn on Norwest Banks, for $7369.15.

  42.   The system has been reported to NewTek and Commodore/Commodore Express
  43. as stolen. Local authorities have been notified. All parties have the serial
  44. numbers.

  56.   I suspect that this machine will be moved out of Denver for resale. The
  57. bank (Norwest) advised us that several bogus cashier's checks (all apparently
  58. Norwest) have been passed at area computer stores. This isn't just an Amiga
  59. sleazeball, he likes PCs and Macs too. So we figure he's buying it to resell.

  61.   Since the Toaster 4000 is so new, a sale of a used system should be fairly
  62. remarkable. Please, I ask everyone, keep an eye out for this dweeb.
